H.Veng.Smith

Born on Staten Island in 1981, “Veng” studied painting from a young age at a local art league. He looks to capture the feel of something made long ago: characters with old-fashioned appearances or objects with old world designs. H. Veng.Smith presents surreal impressions of his signature styled subjects.  An unnatural square head is complimented by facial features that appear familiar. His antiquated scenes of fictitious landscapes are peppered with contemporary qualities. Nature plays an important role in his work. Animals are presented in a more traditional manner with realistic colors and textures coupled with imaginary devices that they control.
