Abstractions
Val Kilmer
Val Kilmer’s abstract series is born from the perspective that matter isn’t matter, it’s energy. And energy is viewable or instigated by thought or perception according to modern physics. This metaphysical reality stretches so far beyond physical reality that images help satisfy our inability to grasp the infinite.
The abstract icons with their depth of layers and infinite shoreline edges reference the fractal notion of zooming/falling infinitely into the image. Kilmer notes the “black-hole” nature of these pieces. They are windows into another world.
